Inray will supply the FUELCONTROL® measurement system to Kaukaan Voima

Inray will supply Kaukaan Voima with a FUELCONTROL® system for fuel quality measurement. The system produces real-time measurement data on the moisture and foreign objects of wood based-fuels and can be used to determine load-specific energy contents. The system will be taken in use in autumn 2022.

Kaukaan Voima Oy’s biopower plant is a combined heat and power plant located in Lappeenranta, in the UPM Kaukaa plant area. Kaukaan Voima’s owners are Pohjolan Voima Oyj and Lappeenrannan Energia Oy. The biopower plant produces process steam for UPM Kaukaa mills and district heat and electricity for Lappeenranta Energia. The plant is connected to UPM’s steam network and contributes to the adequacy of steam in the plant area. The power plant generates 85 percent of the district heating in the city of Lappeenranta.

Kaukaan Voima’s biopower plant is one of Finland’s largest users of renewable wood-based fuels in energy production. More than 80 percent of the power plant’s fuels are carbon-neutral wood-based fuels. The power plant uses bark, logging residue and other wood-based fuels as well as peat.
