This season has been both eventful and successful for Viski Malinen, sponsored by Inray. Alongside competitions and training, Viski managed to graduate from high school, begin his military service at the Sports School, and secure a spot at university.
Spring Season Highlights
The spring season kicked off with a training camp in Sweden, followed by Finnish Championships and youth selection races. Viski claimed his first Finnish Championship title in the Espoo SM-Sprint, while strong placements in the selection races (2nd, 3rd, 8th, and 9th) secured him spots in both the Junior World Championships (JWOC) in the Czech Republic and the Junior European Cup (JEC) in Austria. Although a summer flu affected his performance at the JWOC in July, his season included competing in the Jukola Relay, intense training, and national competitions.
Autumn Season Achievements
The autumn season was marked by further successes, including victories in the Finnish Championships for both the long-distance and middle-distance events, completing a trio of Finnish Championship titles. His calendar also featured the JEC in Vienna and the Military World Championships in Spain, where his best results came in the middle-distance races (11th at the JEC and 30th at the Military World Championships).
This season, Viski also achieved the top ranking in the Finnish H20 category, a testament to his consistent and strong performances throughout the year.
Looking Ahead
Although the competition season has now concluded, the focus has already shifted to the future. Military service at the Santahamina Sports School introduces a new rhythm to training. This winter will be dedicated to building a solid base for fitness and preparing for next year’s competitions. A major upcoming milestone is Mikkeli-Jukola 2025, with planning for the event already well underway.
