INRAY® Bale Scanner is a system developed for quality measurement of baled recycled raw materials. The solution is designed to provide objective, real-time information on material quality, moisture content and composition already at the receiving stage.

INRAY® Bale Scanner has been developed over several years as part of a project focused on quality measurement of recycled raw materials. As part of the project, a mobile measurement station was built to test and demonstrate the technology with different types of baled materials.

The development work aims to bring the recycling sector the same type of real-time measurement data that Inray has already provided for energy production and process industry applications for many years.

Measurement Data at the Receiving Stage

The system can be used to assess, for example:

  • moisture content
  • material composition
  • consistency of recycled raw materials

Measurements can be carried out quickly without opening the bales or requiring extensive manual sampling.

Future Opportunities

The use of recycled raw materials is continuously increasing, but quality management is still largely based on visual inspection and spot sampling.
