Material Quality Varies Continuously
Biomass and other solid materials are not uniform. The composition of the raw material can vary between loads or even within the same material flow.
In many processes, quality assessment is still based on visual inspections or random sampling. These methods are labor-intensive and do not provide continuous visibility into the actual quality of the material.
Process optimization requires real-time information from the material flow.
Continuous Visibility into the Material Flow
INRAY® Camera continuously captures images of the material flow and automatically analyzes the images using machine vision.
The system can identify, for example:
- different types of biomass
- wood-based materials
- bark and wood chips
- material mixtures
- abnormal or unwanted materials
The results are available in real time during production.
How Does the System Work?
The camera is installed above the material flow, where it continuously captures images of the material being transported.
Machine vision algorithms automatically analyze the images and classify the material according to predefined criteria. Measurement data can be transferred to automation, reporting and production management systems.
