Inray receives EU funding for the development of quality measurement of recycled raw materials

The increasing use of recycled raw materials requires reliable quality assurance to optimize and enhance production processes. The background is the competition of desired raw materials, increasing use of lower quality fractions and their utilization in an energy- and cost-efficient manner. Quality parameters vary according to raw materials and production processes. Some impurities weaken the quality of the final product, so it is important to identify quality deviations , if necessary, remove them from the process. The X-ray scanning technology developed by Inray is widely used in the automatic quality measurement of solid biofuels. The measurement technology can also be used to measure the quality of other raw materials. The project investigates the quality measurement needs of the selected raw materials, develops measurement technology and demonstrates the system’s operation and verifies its benefits.
